Myopia Management Services Yorba Linda, CA
Myopia (or near-sightedness) is a condition (some would argue a disease) that impairs an individual’s ability to see clearly at a distance without the use of corrected lenses. Due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors (primarily an increase in screen time and academic demands) the prevalence and severity of myopia are increasing world-wide, especially in young children.
Higher levels of myopia are correlated with higher risks of certain ocular diseases, such as glaucoma, maculopathy, and retina detachment. If your child has been diagnosed with myopia, and especially if their myopia is increasing yearly, conventional glasses and soft contact lenses may not be the best treatment option to minimize myopic progression.
Once a child has been identified as myopic, risk factors for their progression will be assessed and we may recommend enrollment into our Myopia Management Program. During the Myopia Management consultation, Dr. Bittel will take the time to get to know you, your child, their personality and daily activities, and ultimately make a recommendation for the best myopia treatment option. This may include Orthokeratology, Soft-Multifocal contact lenses, Atropine drops, or a combination of treatments. Dr. Bittel is certified in the use of Paragon CRT and EyeSpace orthokeratology lenses, a member of the CooperVision Brilliant Futures soft-multifocal contact lens program, as well as a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AAOMC). If you have any questions about our Myopia Management Program, please feel free to email Dr. Bittel directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
